AMERICAN ACHIEVEMENT CORPORATION ACQUIRES POWERS EMBROIDERY, INC.

AUSTIN, Texas — Apr. 2, 2007 — American Achievement Corporation, parent company of Commemorative Brands, Inc., Educational Communications, Inc. and Taylor Publishing Company has announced today that Commemorative Brands, Inc. has acquired Powers Embroidery Inc., a third-generation, Texas-based producer of quality letter jackets, chenille patches and other school spirit embroidery merchandise. Commemorative Brands, Inc. is the owner of the Balfour®, ArtCarved®, Keepsake®, and Keystone® brands and a leading manufacturer and marketer of recognition products.

“American Achievement’s mission is to assist individuals and organizations in recognizing personal achievements and commemorating special moments in life. The addition of personalized letter jackets is a natural strategic fit and a logical extension to our class ring, graduation product and yearbook portfolios,” said American Achievement Corporation CEO Don Percenti. “Over the past 12 months we have looked closely at this market and have considered a variety of companies. Our decision today reflects our confidence that Powers is the company that best services this marketplace and shares the same mission and values of American Achievement Corporation.”

Powers Embroidery, Inc., located in Waco, Texas, was founded in 1950 by Sophie Powers. For most of its history, Powers Embroidery has focused on the complex and rare embroidery process known as chenille, which results in the letter, symbol and/or name patch commonly associated with letter jackets. In 2004, grandson Jay Powers led the company into the letter jacket manufacturing business. This acquisition will have little effect on the daily operations.

Jay Powers, President, commented, “We share American Achievement’s strong values and we’re honored to be a part of the company’s superior recognition products and commitment to outstanding sales and customer service channels.” Powers will remain with the company following its transition.

“American Achievement Corporation has been a strong and successful company in the Fenway portfolio. We see this acquisition as further strengthening its leadership in the scholastic recognition products industry,” said Mac LaFollette, Managing Director of Fenway Partners, the private equity sponsor of American Achievement Corporation.
